2023 will see The Mile Cross Estate celebrate its 100th year and people are organising to make sure it’s a year to remember.
We are working with local people and schools to find and tell stories about the area’s proud history as the one of the oldest purpose-built social housing estates in the country.
“This is an amazing place when you start looking, and we want to tell a different story to the one you so often hear about the Mile Cross,” said Simon Floyd, Common Lot Director. “The truth is people love living here – and we should be proud of that. We’re grateful to the National Lottery Heritage fund to give us chance to do that”
In 2023 we will work with hundreds of Mile Cross residents, workers and school children to co-create an exhibition, a website, a touring show, a processional pageant and a publication. Follow us on social media or email hello@thecommonlot.org to find out more.
